Candace Rispoli, 31, has pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, stemming back to an embezzlement scheme that began in January 2012, John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced.
Beginning in January 2012, and lasting through June 2016, Rispoli was an employee at Lodestone Management Consultants, which later became known as Infosys Consulting.
Working from her former home in East Haven, Rispoli was responsible for a company American Express credit card that was used to pay for travel, entertainment and other business expenses incurred by her company’s employees and potential employees.
From approximately 2013 through July 2016, Rispoli charged more than $250,000 of she and her then boyfriend's personal expenses to the company card. She also transferred more than $800,000 in funds from the American Express card to PayPal and Venmo accounts they controlled, without consent.
According to Durham, in an effort to conceal her deceit, Rispoli altered her company’s credit card account statements and created false billing summaries, which were emailed to an accounting firm.
Rispoli remains released on $100,000 bond. She is due to be sentenced later this year, when she will face up to 20 years in prison for the wire fraud charge. In pleading guilty, Rispoli has also agreed to pay $1,098,176 in restitution. No sentencing date has been set.
